Wherever possible projects, which are carried out in the second year, are to be industrially based with full involvement of industrial supervisors. This course provides a thorough grounding in all aspects of electrical and electronic engineering and combines the hardware and software subject areas demanded by the industry. This award has the following general educational aims: a) To develop a broad level of understanding of electrical and electronic engineering principles, mathematics and programming.b) To develop the ability to apply knowledge and skills gained to the solution of to a broad range of engineering problems.c) To develop the ability to assimilate and communicate information in a variety of ways including ICT.d) To prepare a student for the world of work or enhance their career prospects within existing employment through the development of a broad range of practical, personal and transferable skills.e) To make the student aware of responsibilities associated with health and safety, business, management, environmental and sustainability issues at a broad level. Successful candidates will be able to perform technical duties in posts demanding a detailed understanding of electrical and electronic engineering. They should be able to design, develop, manufacture, maintain and manage applications of current and developing technology at a high level. They will be prepared for practice as incorporated engineers and will also have the required knowledge and skills for continuing education. Level 4: Electrical & Electronic Principles, Engineering Mathematics, Electronics I, Programmable Logic Controllers, Introduction to C Programming and Embedded Systems, Instrumentation and Integrated Automation Systems, HNC Electrical and Electronic Engineering Project. Level 5: Electronics II, Further Engineering Mathematics, Electrical Principles, Methods & Simulation, Control and Instrumentation, Configuration and Programming of Embedded Systems, Signals and Digital Communications, Power and Machines, Virtual Instrumentation and Control Systems, Networking Systems for Engineers, Control Engineering.
