Course summary
This part-time Masters is aimed at qualified dentists who wish to expand their area of expertise to include advanced practice in endodontics. You will cover the theory and practical aspects of vital pulp therapy, root canal therapy and the perio-endo-restorative interface to enable you to confidently undertake treatments in your clinical practice. The course is run over three years part-time with an option to exit at the end of each year leading to the award of a PGCert, PGDip or MSc. Its blended learning approach sees the delivery of eight modules in total. Six of these are delivered online and two include a residential week held in Dubai, alongside tutorials, independent study and clinical practice. The residential weeks will make use of Swiss Endo Academy's facilities and feature lectures, hands on practicals and small group tutorials. The final two modules are centred around clinical practice write-ups and a research project, respectively. Lecture based modules will be delivered by international speakers through pre-recorded videos, meaning you can plan your study around your personal and work commitments. There will also be a monthly journal club and monthly tutorials to discuss clinical cases and to allow any pertinent discussions about the lectures being undertaken to take place. There is a strong emphasis on independent learning and clinical practice throughout each of the modules to enable you to develop your competency in endodontic treatments. The final year will be dedicated to a clinical portfolio, which will see you build up a number of cases and write up these together with reflections. Furthermore, the final year project will enable you to undertake a literature review, together with either a clinical study, a case series, a lab-based study or a systematic review.
