Course summary

This is an industry-recognised qualification that provides you with the academic preparation you need for a career in real estate. It is a fully supported online programme with great flexibility to earn while you learn, giving you the ability to study anywhere in the world. This programme is designed to align your skills to the educational requirements of the industry’s professional bodies. It provides a rigorous understanding of the knowledge and critical thinking required to practice as a valuer or property surveyor. This conversion MSc Real Estate programme enables graduates from disciplines unrelated to real estate to obtain an accredited degree covering the core technical disciplines of the valuer or property surveyor specialism and their role within the wider context of built environment professional disciplines. This programme is accredited by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) and recognised by the Property Services Regulatory Authority's (PSRA). This programme is for you if: 1. You want to begin or further your career in real estate 2. You want to study an accredited programme and gain professional membership 3. You want to specialise in valuation or property surveying

Assessment method

The types of assessments used on this programme will include coursework (such as essays, reports, portfolios, reflections, problem or short questions or video presentations), computer-based assessments and computer-marked assessments (CMAs). Entry requirements

Entrants to this programme are normally* required to have attained one of the following: •A bachelor’s degree with honours at lower second standard (2:2), or equivalent •A bachelor’s degree, or equivalent, plus experience in a relevant field •A Level 5 qualification as defined by the Framework for Higher Education Qualifications for England, Wales and Northern Ireland (FHEQ) plus five years’ relevant experience •A professional qualification plus five years’ relevant experience And one of the following: •Grade C or above in English (Language or Literature) at GCSE or its equivalent •Grade 6.0 or above, with at least 6.5 in the reading and writing modules, in the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) test administered by the British Council in the Social Sciences academic module •88 or above in the Internet option, 230 or above in the computer-based option or 570 or above in the paper-based option, of the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) •Grade C or above in Use of English at A/S Level Note: applicants with a Bachelor’s degree that has been taught and examined in the English medium can be considered for entry in the absence of the qualifications detailed above.


English language requirements

For undergraduate study you should possess one of the following: - Grade 4 (or C) or above in English Language or English Literature at GCSE or an equivalent qualification. - Grade 6.0 or above, with at least 6.0 in the reading and writing modules, in the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) academic test administered by the British Council. - 88 or above in the internet option, 230 or above in the computer-based option or 570 or above in the paper-based option, of the Teaching of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) test. - Grade C or above in English (Language or Literature) at A/S Level - A cognate sub-degree (Level 5) qualification taught and assessed in English from the University of Hong Kong or City University of Hong Kong Applicants with a Bachelor's degree that has been taught and examined in English can be considered for entry in the absence of the English language qualifications detailed above.
