Course summary
Overview Designed by experienced and senior clinicians, and in line with the NHS Multi-Professional Framework for Advanced Clinical Practice in England, on this programme you’ll develop your ability to manage clinical care in partnership with individuals, families and carers in a variety of UK healthcare settings. This Masters programme supports registered professionals (NMC, HCPC) to develop their existing skills, knowledge and values across the four pillars of advanced practice:

Modules
On this part-time Master's programme, you'll study modules worth a total of 180 credits over 3 years. The programme lead will support you with choosing your optional modules Part-time: Year 1:- Core modules in this year include:
- Advanced Clinical Reasoning, Decision Making and Diagnostics (15 credits)
- History Taking and Physical Assessment for Advanced Clinical Practice (30 credits)
- Principles of Advanced Clinical Practice (15 credits).
- Evidence Based Practice at Advanced Level (15 credits).
- Applied Pharmacology and Medicines Management (30 credits)
- Prescribing for Nurses: Independent and Supplementary (V300) (L7) (30 credits)
- Advanced Practice in Urgent and Emergency Care Settings (15 credits)
- Dementia in Health and Social Care (15 credits)
- Identification and Management of Frailty in Adults (15 credits)
- Level 7 Care of Children and Young People in Crisis (15 credits)
- Supporting Advanced Clinical Practice in Mental Health (15 credits)
- Supporting Advanced Clinical Practice in Palliative and End of Life Care (15 credits)
- Service Improvement Project (15 credits)
- Transition to Advanced Clinical Practice (45 credits)
Entry requirements
A second-class honours degree, or equivalent, in a relevant subject or a master's degree in an appropriate subject. Applicants should be professionally practising in an environment where there is an identified need for the individual to be an advanced practitioner. Exceptionally, equivalent professional experience and/or qualifications will be considered. Applicants are required to have 3 years post-registration work experience in a relevant area. Applicants must also have support of a line manager and clinical supervisor and current registration with a relevant professional body (NMC or HCPC). All applicants will be invited to attend an interview. This course is for UK based staff only.
