Course summary
Law with Criminology is a three-year, full-time degree. You will study all the elements of a Qualifying Law Degree, including Criminal Law, Tort Law, Contract Law and Public Law. You will also have the opportunity to study modules including Human Rights and Family Law. In addition, you will study aspects of Criminology, including Mental Health and Forensic Psychology, Young People and Crime, Human Rights, Diversity and Duty of Care, Sexual Offenders – across the life course and Criminology in Professional Practice. A wide range of assessment methods will be used to assess these different modules, with a focus on coursework. This course provides a real-world application of the law, the psychology of criminals and the investigative element of crime. This degree can lead to several careers in law enforcement, ranging from a Criminologist, Police Officer, Forensic Science Technician and Probation Management. This degree can also be used as a stepping-stone to a career within the legal profession. You will be provided with classes to help you prepare for the first Solicitors’ Qualifying Examination and the Qualifying Law Degree status means that it can be used to pursue a career as a Barrister. You will also have the opportunity to undertake a legal work placement to further develop your employability skills and put what you have learnt into practice.
