Course summary

The BEng (Hons) Aerospace Engineering delivers the core and specialist principles of engineering to equip you with the skills required for an exciting career in this future-oriented sector that opens up international prospects. Graduate positions are available in the research, design and development of civil and military aircrafts, missiles, weapons systems, satellites and space vehicles. Aerospace engineers also work in testing and maintaining aircrafts and systems, and in improving efficiency (speed, weight, fuel consumption). In recent years, aerospace engineering has increasingly oriented towards sustainability, which is reflected by the many roles in the field that address its environmental impact. What's more, this course is accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) on behalf of the Engineering Council for the purposes of fully meeting the academic requirement for registration as an Incorporated Engineer and partly meeting the academic requirement for registration as a Chartered Engineer.

Entry requirements

Qualification requirements

The entry criteria for direct entry onto Level 5 of the programme are: HNC or HND with an overall merit grade in: Mechanical, General or Aeronautical/Aerospace Engineering or an appropriate Engineering discipline. If English is not the candidate's first language, an IELTS score of at least 6.0 with a minimum of 5.5 in all skills is also required. Applicants who are able to demonstrate relevant work experience or knowledge will also be considered on an individual basis and will be invited to an interview to determine suitability.

Interview

All applicants will be required to attend an information, advice and guidance appointment either on campus or remotely. The session will give you the opportunity to meet our tutors and ask any questions you may have about studying at B&FC.

Overall score of 6.0 from IELTS with minimum of 5.5 in each component; Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening
