Mathematics and Astrophysics at University of Dundee - UCAS

Course summary

Mathematical models and applications are behind all of today's scientific developments. Physics is the most fundamental of the sciences, concerned with the nature and properties of matter and energy. This course combines modules from mathematics and astrophysics. You will study both pure and application-driven mathematics. By the time you finish your degree, you will be able to use maths to solve practical problems. Computers are used extensively in modern maths and we will introduce you to various mathematical software preparing you for industry. At the same time, you'll study astrophysics. You'll learn fundamental physics, from astronomical phenomena to quantum mechanics. As the course progresses, you'll study topics such as space physics and astronomy, stars and planetary systems, galaxies, and the universe. Our active Physics and Maths student societies run various events every year. The Physics Society arranges annual international trips to notable physics-linked locations. In the past, these have included the European Space Agency, CERN and The Niels Bohr Institute. They also offer excellent peer support. You can meet with students from all year groups to help guide you through the more challenging aspects of the course.
