Course summary
The programme provides teachers and education-related professionals with the opportunity to engage in informed debate about major issues in education and training; reflect in depth on the relationship between theory and practice in their professional context; develop further their competences within their specialist areas; keep abreast of research and developments in education; and design, conduct and critically appraise research.
Modules
Modules include: Curriculum development and primary education; digital education; early years education; leadership for learning; English and literacy in the curriculum; Irish and Irish-medium education; pastoral issues; effective teaching; special education; developing physical education, school sport and coaching.
Assessment method
Assessment is by coursework; there are no formal written examinations; there is a 15-20,000 word dissertation.
Entry requirements
Applicants require a qualified teacher status and an Honours degree or equivalent qualification; Honours degree or equivalent plus or at least 2 years' professional experience in an education or training context.
