Course summary

Our new sport coaching degree will equip you with the required knowledge, understanding, skills and experiences to become a professional sports coach. Our degree offers you a unique opportunity to follow your interests by studying for a core award of Sport Coaching BSc(Hons) or one of the following specialist awards after the first year of study:

  • Sport Coaching with Development
  • Sport Coaching with Performance
  • Sport Coaching with Youth Sport and Physical Education.
Whichever pathway you choose, you can be sure that you'll gain the knowledge and skills that employers have identified as most valuable. Two work placements will enable you to gain practical coaching experience in different sports, settings and scenarios giving you a competitive edge in the graduate jobs market. Learn from staff who teach from their own professional coaching experiences in sports including tennis and cricket, and who continue to engage with national and international sport. Our Falmer campus has excellent sport and lab facilities and is situated next door to Brighton and Hove Albion FC’s stadium. Brighton hosts many large-scale sporting events including the Brighton Marathon and London to Brighton cycle ride. Don’t meet the entry requirements? Our Sport BSc(Hons) with integrated foundation year provides an extra year of study at foundation level if you do not have the academic qualifications or experience needed for entry to this course. Successful completion of the foundation year enables you to progress onto year 1 of this degree.

Additional fee information

Please note that the £13,842 international fee is for classroom based courses and provisional for 2023. For lab based courses a higher fee of £14,892 applies. EU students will be charged international fees unless they have settled status awarded by the UK Government's Settlement Scheme. Further tuition fees are payable for each subsequent year of study and are subject to an annual increase of no more than 5% or RPI (whichever is the greater). The annual increase for UK/EU students, who are subject to regulated fees, will increase no more than the statutory maximum fee. The tuition fee you have to pay depends on a number of factors including the kind of course you take, and whether you study full-time or part-time. If you are studying part-time you will normally be charged on a pro rata basis depending on the number of modules you take. If your course includes a sandwich year option you will pay a reduced fee during this year; £1,370 for home students and £2,120 for international students. You may have to pay additional costs during your studies. The cost of optional activities is not included in your tuition fee and you will need to meet this cost in addition to your fees.
