Course summary
A Combined Honours degree at Chester gives you the opportunity to study two subjects. You will spend a fairly even amount of time studying each subject area, with possible opportunities to declare a major – minor towards the end of your studies. Events Management We bring studying Events Management to life with inspiring and real experiences, interactive learning, access and exposure to the industry, and an opportunity to develop and manage your own events. You will gain much more than subject knowledge; we will help you develop the extra skills that employers are seeking, and you will leave us with experiences that will give you an edge at interview and in the workplace. We work closely with the Association of Events Management Educators and key industry stakeholders to ensure our course is current and relevant. Volunteering is an important element of your course that will help you to stand out when you enter the industry, and we offer an exciting range of opportunities such as Christmas parades, regional and national sporting events, music festivals and cultural events. Everything you study will prepare you to succeed in your future career. You’ll begin planning and delivering a real event as part of a team in your second year, as well as having the chance to shape your career path through a five-week work placement that suits your personal interests and ambitions. You will also have the chance to undertake an optional year-long placement after your second year, which really brings your course to life and will enhance your graduate employment prospects. Marketing On this course, accredited by the Chartered Institute of Marketing, you can explore the fast-moving world of marketing, develop real skills, gain cutting edge knowledge and become an outstanding business professional. This course brings marketing to life with inspiring, real-world experiences. It’s a dynamic, competitive world for marketers today, which is why we will equip you with much more than marketing knowledge. Your future employers are seeking skills that we develop with you; meaning you leave us with many valuable experiences giving you an edge at interview and in the workplace. Everything you study will be anchored to today’s business world. You will be looking at small local businesses right through to the leading brands, as well as upcoming trends in key marketing areas, such customer behaviour and digital communications. Gain an understanding of marketing in a real-life context along with essential digital marketing skills, and develop management awareness in areas such as finance, people and organisations. Use this marketing knowledge to make key decisions and consider the different ways businesses operate around the world. You will begin to shape your career path by choosing an aspect of marketing, along with the option to undertake a five-week or year-long placement, and carrying out an original research project into a subject you select.
