Course summary
You can study this Mathematical Sciences MSc programme full-time or part-time. It offers students the opportunity to specialise in a broad range of areas across pure and applied mathematics, statistics and probability, and theoretical physics. The topics we cover include:

Modules
Students choose three optional modules in the first semester and two optional modules in the second semester. In total, at least three optional modules must be at master's level; these have codes beginning with 'MATH4' in the list below. Every effort has been made to ensure that all the information below is correct at the time of publication. However, changes to our academic provision are always possible, and modules may be deleted or replaced with other modules in future years. Most options are available every year, but a small number are only available in alternate years.

Applications from international students are welcome. International qualifications will be evaluated in line with the National Recognition Information Centre (NARIC) guidelines. English language qualifications All applicants must have reached a minimum required standard of English language and are required to provide evidence of this. If you meet the academic requirements of the course but do not have the required level of English Language, it is possible for you to come and study at the University on one of our Pre-sessional EAP programmes. Entry requirements
Applications are welcome from students who have (or expect to obtain) an Honours degree in Mathematics. The usual minimum requirement for entry is a 2:1 degree classification, but we consider all applications on their individual merits, taking the transcript, references and personal statement into account. Applicants who have degrees with Mathematics as a major component (e.g. physics or engineering) are also welcome to apply. In this case we may look for higher marks to offset the lower number of credits earned for mathematics modules. International qualifications: Applications from international students are welcome. International qualifications will be evaluated in line with the National Recognition Information Centre (NARIC) guidelines.
