The course received an overall satisfaction score of 100% in the National Student Survey 2022. Training to become an actor is an intensive process which requires curiosity, courage and commitment. At Guildford School of Acting (GSA), we’ll help you develop your imagination, range, skills and technique. You’ll learn how to prepare for rehearsal, how to rehearse and how to use independent and proactive processes to achieve your best work possible for stage and screen. We were shortlisted for University of the Year in The Times/Sunday Times Good University Guide 2023. What you will study Drawing on the teaching and practices of a range of practitioners - from Uta Hagen and Jacques LeCoq, to Rudolf Laban and Anne Bogart - our BA (Hons) Acting course will develop your imagination, your technique, your expressive and collaborative skills, and your creativity. You’ll also take screen acting classes and complete film and radio projects that allow you to explore the processes needed in today’s recorded media. You’ll attend classes and workshops with guest speakers to develop your professional network and employment opportunities. As you come to the end of your course, you’ll complete your transition to professional performer with an industry showcase for invited agents and industry guests.

Qualification requirements

Applications are considered on an individual basis, taking into account qualifications achieved, predicted grades, personal statement and academic reference. Conditional offers are specified in terms of required grades; we do not make offers in terms of overall UCAS tariff. Candidates who can demonstrate exceptional talent, and can satisfy the panel of their ability to successfully complete the programme, may also be considered. We understand that predicted grades are an estimate and will consider applicants who have predicted grades that are a little lower than our published requirement. Any offers we make will align with the grades shown above unless a grade reduction can be offered under our Contextual Admissions policy or our In2Surrey scheme. Entry is also subject to successful audition. Candidates who can demonstrate exceptional talent, and can satisfy the panel of their ability to complete the programme may also be considered. A non-refundable audition fee will be charged.
