Course summary

Boost your business knowledge and excel in enterprise after studying the subtle strategic elements of business, enterprise and management. Our top-up degree takes your existing knowledge to new heights, allowing you to apply your theoretical comprehension to practical working environments. This course will deepen the business understanding and skills you will have developed in your foundation degree or HND programmes. It allows you to practically apply your knowledge to strategies to maximise staff retention and development while driving business growth. You will strengthen your problem-solving skills ready to identify and address complex business issues. The broad selection of business modules encourage personal development so you will identify and pursue your own specialism. We will support you through your learning journey helping you to carve out a niche within your chosen career. You’ll also develop your knowledge of international business. As you learn to apply technical skills to multiple contexts, you’ll be perfectly positioned to graduate as an adaptable leader with strong personal and professional skills. This may lead to progression in employment at a senior level, starting your own business or continuing your studies at masters level.

Assessment method

The assessment process is an integral part of teaching and learning and, as such, supports and complements the learning strategy, in order to ensure that the required outcomes are achieved. The aim is to achieve learning through which knowledge is based on both understanding and application. Both the task and the assessment criteria are clearly explained to students within the module handbook. Assessment strategies used within the course include methods such as practice-based assignments, case studies, presentations, projects, problem-based scenarios, and negotiated learning contracts.

Qualification requirements

The award adopts the scheme admissions policy and criteria. This programme is predominately offered to those students who wish to continue their studies after successful completion of an HND in Business, FdA in Business / Business Management or other relevant discipline. The standard entry requirement is a Merit grade profile at HND level or Merit at FdA level from a UK institution. In the absence of formal learning qualifications applications are welcomed from persons who can demonstrate relevant work experience, including work in a voluntary capacity. The course structure actively supports claims for Accreditation of Certificated Learning. Ideally part time students need to be on employment which is relevant to their field. For those not in employment discussions will take place before being accepted on to the course to determine the relevance of previous work experience. International qualifications will be assessed against these criteria. Speakers of other languages will need to possess an IELTS band score of 6.0 (with no-less than 5.5 in any one element) or a recognised English Level 2 qualification.
