Course summary

The BSc (Hons) Applied Health and Wellbeing undergraduate course at BGU Lincoln explores health and wellbeing from perspectives of sport and exercise, health and social care, music for wellbeing, and counselling with a specific focus on factors related to wellbeing. This versatile multi-subject single honours BSc (hons) Applied Health and Wellbeing programme boasts an interprofessional and dynamic approach to learning that provides students with a framework for exploring key issues in contemporary public health and wellbeing. In addition to consideration of different theoretical perspectives, alongside the application of theory to current public health challenges, students have the opportunity to tailor their learning to fit specific career interests, build their confidence and acquire specialist skills sought by employers. Students will explore and critically evaluate a range of issues that define the current health scene, with a specific focus on factors related to wellbeing. These will cover varied and relevant topics, including: health psychology, health sociology, public health, health promotion, sport and wellbeing, health and social care management and health inequalities. If you don’t have, or don’t think you will attain, the normal tariff points for studying at BGU, this course will enable you to study for a degree without any UCAS points. The course is delivered over four years and includes a Foundation Year, which gives you a perfect introduction to what it means to be a university student and prepares you for effective undergraduate study. In your Foundation Year, you will study eight modules, all of which are designed to equip you with the necessary academic skills and knowledge to progress successfully in your chosen subject.
