Campus Because of our special relationship with Nottingham Trent University (NTU), this course is based at NTUs Clifton Campus Sports Village, sited in a parkland setting just four miles from Nottingham City Centre. There are excellent public transport links with the City Centre and all other parts of Greater Nottingham. Level 4/Year 1 modules include -Coaching Theory and Practice -Strength and Conditioning -Physiology of Sport Performance -Foundations of Sport Psychology -Introduction to Research Skills -Inclusive Sport and Community and Engagement Level 5/Year 2 modules include -Foundations of Sports Biomechanics -Professional Development Placement -Applied Research Project -Applied Skill Learning -Event Management Assessment We assess continually throughout the course including through assignments, research projects, reports and practical investigations. Two second-year modules include assessment by examination to help prepare you for further degree-level study. As part of your course, you will also need to complete a programme of work placement which we will help you to secure. Bursaries We want our courses to be accessible to students from any background, so we’ve put together a cash support package in the form of non-repayable bursaries to provide financial help where it’s really needed. Your career and progression You could progress to the third year of the BSc (Hons) Coaching and Sport Science at Nottingham Trent University, the validating university for this Foundation Degree, or the third year of our own BA (Hons) Football Studies degree, awarded in partnership with The Open University. Alternatively, you could top-up to a relevant degree at another university of your choice. This qualification could also open up a wide range of careers within a sports coaching, sports development or administrative environment such as sports development officer, sports coach, fitness instructor or sports management.
Qualified teacher status (QTS)
To work as a teacher at a state school in England or Wales, you will need to achieve qualified teacher status (QTS). This is offered on this course for the following level:
