You will deepen your knowledge of cinematic and literary styles through the analysis and composition of screenplays, poetry and prose. You will develop a critical approach towards your learning and creative practice, through the discussion of key films, texts and theories, and in the supportive atmosphere of student-oriented seminars and workshops. Film Studies and Creative Writing at Keele enables you to develop theoretical and practical skills in the analysis and production of both film and literature. You will engage in critical discussion of key texts, genres, and theories of film and literary style. You will explore film and literature from a historical perspective, considering variations and influences across cultures and time. Distinctively, the course at Keele offers you the chance to explore the relationship between film and writing, and how these two modes of expression work together. You will gain an understanding of narrative form and screenplays, and their central role in cinematic production. You will also have the opportunity to hone your skills in the composition of poetry and prose forms.
