Course summary
Delivered online, this MSc Endocrinology is practical and clinically focused. Course content and structure are designed to create professionals with greater confidence and understanding of the management of patients with endocrine disorders, through case studies and discussion. It will develop the skills to access information independently and use it to critically assess, evaluate and disseminate evidence that is related to endocrine care. We aim to help you develop creative, problem-solving approaches to complex clinical situations, and become an important advocate in the delivery of care to people with endocrinology-related problems. MSc: One-year duration Students progressing from the PG Diploma course do the one-year MSc consisting of the following modules: Core •Research Methodologies and Critical Appraisal •Professional Project MSc: Two-year duration Students who decide to enrol directly on to the MSc (rather than the PG Dip) will do the two-year version, which consists of the following modules: Core •Disorders of the hypothalamus and pituitary •Disorders of the thyroid •Disorders of the adrenals •Disorders of parathyroids, calcium and bone •Reproductive endocrinology •Endocrine-related cancer •Research Methodologies and Critical Appraisal •Professional Project
Assessment method
You will be assessed across the following components for the first module: Clinical case scenarios, with case-based discussion; Individual learning portfolio; Group/individual activity; Case-based examination. To produce the professional project, students continue to use the online course however much of the work is self directed. Students are expected in the first 8 weeks to interact with their tutor on a weekly basis. Once the proposal has been approved, the professional project is completed through online guidance and supervision offered by the tutor.
Entry requirements
Health professionals with a previous degree or equivalent are eligible to apply for admission to the course. Applicants will typically be health professionals who have regular exposure to people with endocrine disorders.
