Over the last 600 years, the University of St Andrews has established a reputation as one of the world’s leading teaching centres. Students entering Medicine at St Andrews have the unique opportunity to graduate after three years with a BSc Honours degree in Medicine before moving on to one of our Partner Medical Schools to complete their training as a doctor and graduate with an MB ChB/MBBS. Candidates who enter St Andrews on the Canadian Medical Programme will progress to Edinburgh Medical School to complete their medical degree. They will then apply for a Residency training place in Canada and will not apply for Foundation Training in the UK. Minimum Qualification Requirements

Applicants with other qualifications including other International or European qualifications should refer to our website for further information and country specific entry requirements www.st-andrews.ac.uk/subjects/entry. Applicants who use English as an additional language, and who cannot provide their English language ability through their school-leaving qualifications must achieve 7 in all four components of the International English Language Testing Service (IELTS) exam, to be taken at one sitting. This is irrespective of any other English qualification achieved. The final four consecutive years of secondary or high school education in an English-medium school may in some cases be considered as evidence of English language ability. This will be considered on a case by case basis. IELTS scores have a recommended two-year validity period, and this time limit will be applied. Interview

The interview is in the format of Multiple Mini Interviews (MMIs) consisting of a small number of ‘mini’ interviews.

University Clinical Aptitude Test (UCAT)

All candidates applying to Medicine at St Andrews, including international students, are required to sit the University Clinical Aptitude Test. This should be sat in the year before the year of entry to Medicine. Information can be found on the UCAT website. https://www.ucat.ac.uk/
