Course summary
The course offers a wide choice of optional modules which allows students to structure their degrees according to their own specific interests in environmental science, ecology and conservation and environmental policy and economics; through its emphasis on research, environmental assessment methods, and the application of critical thinking to specific case studies, the course equips students to analyse and tackle the complex, multi-faceted problems that characterise environmental management; great emphasis is placed on problem solving, particularly on issues currently being investigated by research staff within the Environment Department and the Stockholm Environmental Institute at York. We also offer a Diploma and a Postgraduate Certificate.

Assessment method
Essays of around 3,000 words, exams of varying length (depending on the modules chosen), models, maps and accompanying report, presentations and reports, press releases and accompanying poster presentations, laboratory practical reports of 2,000-3,000 words and 8,000 word dissertation.
