Course summary

This combination of linguistics and modern languages and cultures will deepen your understanding of how language and languages work. You’ll study the inner workings of language, whilst at the same time applying this knowledge in your study of either one or two modern foreign languages. Become a global linguist and transform how you see the world through the study of language and place. Study the inner workings of language and apply your knowledge to a choice of one or two foreign languages - enhancing your understanding with an exploration of the history, literature and culture of those languages. Splitting your time between the School of English and the School of Languages and Cultures, you’ll have access to a variety of areas of study. With the School of English, choose from modules such as first and second language acquisition, theoretical linguistics, language and gender, and accents and dialects.
