Course summary
The BSc (Hons) Applied Health and Wellbeing undergraduate course at BGU Lincoln explores health and wellbeing from perspectives of sport and exercise, health and social care, music for wellbeing, and counselling with a specific focus on factors related to wellbeing. This versatile multi-subject single honours BSc (hons) Applied Health and Wellbeing programme boasts an interprofessional and dynamic approach to learning that provides students with a framework for exploring key issues in contemporary public health and wellbeing. In addition to consideration of different theoretical perspectives, alongside the application of theory to current public health challenges, students have the opportunity to tailor their learning to fit specific career interests, build their confidence and acquire specialist skills sought by employers. Students will explore and critically evaluate a range of issues that define the current health scene, with a specific focus on factors related to wellbeing. These will cover varied and relevant topics, including: health psychology, health sociology, public health, health promotion, sport and wellbeing, health and social care management and health inequalities. Students will also need GCSEs in English Language and Mathematics at grade 4 (previously C) or above (or equivalent). A satisfactory DBS is required In line with the priority which it gives to promoting opportunities for lifelong learning and widening access to Higher Education, the University welcomes applications from prospective students who are seeking to gain exemption from some parts of an academic programme by Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). In accordance with University conditions, students are entitled to apply for RPL for credit awarded based on either relevant credit achieved at another HE institution (RP(C)L), or credit awarded for Experiential Learning, (RP(E)L).
