Course summary

This professionally accredited MChem degree includes an industrial placement year and a year of advanced study at Master's level. You gain a thorough understanding of all the main areas of chemistry, alongside in-depth knowledge of those aspects of chemistry that are important to the pharmaceutical industry. In stage 3 you take a paid year in industry. In stage 4, you take advanced modules such as catalyst application and design, and organic synthesis for drug targets. Supported by our research-active staff, you also conduct an extended research project on a topic of your choice.
