Course summary

Our PhD/MPhil Dental Health Sciences programme enables you to undertake a research project that will improve understanding of Dental Health Sciences. Research in dental health sciences seeks to improve the evidence base for dental public health, service delivery and clinical interventions to inform dental policy, dental commissioning clinical practice and, ultimately, improve patient and population health. The team has strong links with the NHS and Public Health England in the north-west of England, and provides advice on the design and management of public health programmes and dental services. We have a strong reputation for the delivery of high quality systematic reviews, predominantly through our support of the Cochrane Oral Health Review Group (COHG), an international network of healthcare professionals, researchers and consumers.

Entry requirements

We required applicants to hold, or be about to obtain, an Upper Second class Honours degree (or overseas equivalent) in a related subject area for entry to a PhD programme. A Lower Second class Honours degree may be considered if applicants also hold a Masters degree with a Merit classification.
