A health, wellbeing and social care management degree is a rewarding choice for anyone aspiring to be a future manager or leader in health or social care. This health, wellbeing and social care management degree provides the foundation for a variety of careers in the health and social care sector, from working with individuals to managing people. You will gain a sound understanding of the knowledge, skills and principles that will prepare you for employment in your chosen health and social care setting. You'll learn about all aspects of an individual's journey through the health and social care pathway, considering the leadership, management, policy, contemporary issues and practice that influence their experiences. In the final year, you can choose modules to help tailor the degree to meet your career aspirations. Getting out of the classroom and into the workplace is a key part of your learning. There are work placements throughout the course, which help you develop a clear picture of the different careers open to you. In the Graduate Survey 2016, 100% of our students were in employment or further study within six months of graduation. This health, wellbeing and social care management course has a multi-agency approach that encompasses social services, the NHS, third and independent sectors. You'll benefit from placements in a range of settings, which will enable you to work with a variety of people and in multi-agency environments. You will gain essential research and employability skills that will support you in gaining employment in a wide range of roles, including support management, service co-ordinators and other management roles in health and social care. Our students benefit from excellent academic and pastoral support, as well as being taught by research-active staff who have strong partnerships with health and social care sectors. GCSEs: The University normally requires a minimum 5 GCSEs including Mathematics/Numeracy and English at Grade C or Grade 4 or above, or their equivalent, but consideration is given to individual circumstances.

Criminal records declaration (DBS/Disclosure Scotland)
A satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check is required (additional cost applies; no offences are considered spent). Applicants who have identified that they have a conviction will, in the first instance, be contacted by the University to complete a self-disclosure form so that any issues around placements, professional practice etc., can be considered at the earlier stages of the admissions process. Applicants who are successful in their application, and who are offered a place which they then accept, will be contacted three months prior to enrolment (where possible) with details of the University’s online DBS service. Full details are available on the University website and, if applicants have any questions regarding their DBS, they should contact the Enquiries and Admissions Team at [email protected]. Subscription to the DBS update service is strongly recommended.

Students have access to a wide range of resources including textbooks, publications, and computers in the University’s library and via online resources. In most cases they are more than sufficient to complete a course of study. Where there are additional costs, either obligatory or optional, these are detailed on the University website (on individual course pages). Of course students may choose to purchase their own additional personal resources/tools over and above those listed to support their studies at their own expense. All stationery and printing costs are at a student’s own expense.
