Course summary
Current research interest areas: Mediaeval literature; Renaissance literature; restoration, 18th-century literature and romanticism; 19th-century literature; 20th-century literature; contemporary literature and creative writing; Scottish literature; gender, sexuality, and women's writing; drama.
Modules
The MPhil normally requires two years of study including a one-year taught course from the MLitt programme, followed by a second year of research and a thesis of not more than 40,000 words. Applicants who already hold a suitable Masters or MLitt degree may be eligible for admittance directly to the second year of an MPhil degree.
Assessment method
Students will complete a supervised thesis of 40,000 words.
Entry requirements
A good UK Honours degree or equivalent. Overseas applicants whose 1st language is not English must provide evidence of competence in written and spoken English: IELTS 8; or grade A in the Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency in English.
