Course summary
In the fast-paced business world, companies are looking to gain a more competitive global presence. This course is a chance to put yourself ahead of the crowd by developing your knowledge of international business and management and gain valuable experiences during your placement year. This time spent working in business provides you with crucial work experience, which is highly prized and much sought after by employers upon graduation. The course will equip you with the understanding of accounting, finance, culture, marketing, logistics and operations within an international business and how these impact the real world. We’re one of the only UK universities to offer language training on this type of course, giving our students a real advantage when it comes to competing for the best jobs. This course will broaden your industry knowledge and cultural horizons. You will examine topics from a broad, international perspective and have opportunities to gain international experiences. Our BA (Hons) International Business course achieved a 91% student satisfaction rating (National Student Survey, 2022). During your placement year, you can undertake an industry placement, a study abroad experience at a partner university, or a combination of the two. You will even have opportunities to take part in international competitions, and build your transferable skills as you organise NTU’s annual Living, Working and Studying Abroad conference. This course has dual award status with the Chartered Management Institute (CMI). EFMD Global has awarded EFMD Programme Accreditation to our suite of undergraduate BA (Hons) International Business courses. Nottingham Business School is accredited by EQUIS and AACSB, which are internationally recognised hallmarks of excellence and quality for business education. We are one of only six UK business schools recognised as a PRME Champion, and held up as an exemplar by the United Nations Principles of Responsible Management Education (PRME). Modules
Year One: Six core modules. Year Two: Five core modules plus one optional module. Full-time students (three year course) have the opportunity to replace modules in the second half of the year with one of our Unique Opportunities, completing an internship, studying abroad or setting up an enterprise. Year Three: Placement/study abroad year for those on the four-year course. Final Year: Five core modules (including a research project) plus one optional module. Throughout the course you will study a variety of subjects including: Foundations of Managing and Organising, Accounting and Finance for International Managers, Economics for International Business, International Business Environment, International Strategic Management, International Tourism; Sustainability Development and Impact and Global Business in a Changing World.
