Course summary

Our BA Drama and Film undergraduate degree allows you to develop your practical theatre-making skills, as well as giving you an understanding of the historical and political context of theatre alongside the study of film and television in their critical, theoretical, industrial and creative contexts. Why study this course? Learn from and work with the experts – you will be taught by our research leading staff, many of whom continue to practise in the professional theatre industry, as all well working with visiting industry professionals throughout your programme. Location - The quality, creativity and originality of the UK’s film, television and digital production industries is highly respected across the globe – hence its position as the biggest exporter of TV programmes after the US. British programming leads the way in factual entertainment, documentaries and light entertainment, and the US now looks to the UK as a source of inspiration. Local Theatre - Birmingham is an ideal place to study Drama as it has one of the highest concentrations of live theatre in the country. It is home to many theatres ranging from the Birmingham Hippodrome and the Birmingham Rep, to the mac (Midlands Arts Centre) and the Old Joint Stock (which is a pub and a theatre), as well as being within a convenient distance of Stratford-upon-Avon and Warwick.
