Course summary

Civil engineers find creative ways to solve real-world problems by developing the physical infrastructure needed for society to exist – from bridges to houses, and from roads to hospitals and train stations. This course provides a broad civil engineering education and will give you the design, analysis and construction skills needed for the industry. You'll be equipped with the abilities to develop sustainable and cost-effective design ideas. Through industry-facing projects, site visits and the opportunity to undertake a work placement year, this course will give you the skills needed to begin a successful career in Civil Engineering. You'll learn about structures, materials, geotechnics, mathematics and develop an applied understanding of practical engineering techniques to find innovative solutions to real-world built environment challenges.   • Placement Year | Gain vital skills and experience in the workplace by undertaking a one-year placement on our sandwich route. Previously students have spent placements at companies such as AECOM, Curtins Consulting and Jackson Civil Engineering.

Tuition fees for 2025 entry are yet to be confirmed. As a guide and to enable you to plan your finances, the fees for Home undergraduate students for 2024 are £9250.
