Course summary
The business environment is changing all the time. While you can’t predict the future, you can certainly be prepared for it. Organisations need managers with a broad range of skills, who understand the different areas of business and how they work together. This degree will give you a well-rounded business education to make you a versatile and employable graduate. You’ll get a full overview of how businesses perform, meaning you can adapt and succeed in a competitive jobs market. There are compulsory modules that cover essential topics, such as marketing, how to manage people, purchasing and logistics.There are also many opportunities to gain practical experience of the business world. You’ll gain experience of working with industry, either through an internship or an employment experience project. This project module has input from employers, so you’ll know what is expected from you when you graduate.
Modules
Year 1: Business skills and professional development, Work and organisational behaviour, Economics, law and regulations, Foundations in marketing, Accounting in a business context and Supply chain management. Year 2: Choose one of two pathways. Pathway 1 - study six modules classroom-led for the full year. Pathway 2 - study six modules from September to December class-room led and then an internship from January through to April. Modules available on both pathways include Business planning, implementation and growth, Environmental analysis, Quantitative techniques in business, Digital context and Research methods. You will also study one option module. Year 3: Undertake Sandwich Work Placement. Year 4: Business strategy, International business, Leadership and management development, Professional practice and employability, and a double module Dissertation. If you undertake the internship you will substitute the ‘Professional practice and employability’ module for an option module.
