Course summary

Supporting individual health, social and care needs is a crucial aspect of enabling people to achieve an enjoyable and fulfilling life. Working with people to improve their health, through education, support, treatment and professional guidance within any setting can make a significant difference to people when they need it, whatever their age. You will develop an understanding of the theory underpinning individual health behaviour which will enhance the quality of support you provide for clients accessing Health and Social care services. You will study with likeminded people with knowledge and understanding across a range of related professional roles. The course is taught and based in your own community. This programme aligns with current health, social and care practice policies and legislation, if you enjoy working with people and want to play an important part in the evolving approach to health and care provision, then this is ideally suited to you. NPTC Group of Colleges is a collaborative partner of the University of Wales Trinity Saint David.

The content of the curriculum is strongly influenced by the principles of care and the promotion of all aspects of health in order to address current health concerns. Modules can Include:

Assessment method

You will learn via taught lessons / practical classes / self-directed study/ seminars/ blended learning the underpinning concepts of care practice essential to the course. Assessment takes place via continual assessment / coursework / written assignments / examinations. You will be supporting in meeting the demands of assessed work by module tutors, personal tutor, H.E. study coach and wider student support services.

Qualification requirements

Completion of the CertHE in Care Studies or another relevant Level 4 qualification. Applications are welcomed from mature learners who do not have formal qualifications, but can demonstrate relevant experience and/or achievement of professional qualifications in Health and Social care employment.
