Ranked Top 5 for History on student satisfaction by The Complete University Guide. History focuses on British and European/International history from 1500 to the present. Through a wide range of innovative modules, we investigate not just what happened in the past, but why it happened, and what this tells us about the events and forces that shaped the world we’ve inherited. University of Suffolk is based in the historical town of Ipswich with plenty of history of its own. Our history course focuses on British and European/International history from 1500 to the present. Through a wide range of innovative modules, our programme doesn't just look at the history of wars but also a module on sex and gender in British Society since 1500. History students go on to careers in teaching and academia (further study required), archive and library services, the museum and heritage industries, the civil service, local and national government, media and advertising, publishing and journalism, and many more. A number of our graduates also go on to pursue further qualifications at masters and doctoral levels.
