This Level 4 Higher National Certificate course offers a broad introduction to the dynamic and exciting world of travel and tourism. Students will learn about operational practice as well as the strategic development of the UK, European and international travel and tourism industries. About the course Students will be encouraged to gain knowledge and understanding of the broad aspects in Travel and Tourism Management. There will be a strong emphasis on employability skills and the underpinning knowledge essential for students with entrepreneurial, employment or academic aspirations. Programme content is designed to be appropriate for entry into or progression within the international travel and tourism sector and enables students to progress onto higher study at Higher National Diploma (HND) or BA (Hons) top-up pathways. This course will be based at the college's new £58 million City Hub campus, near Nottingham train station. The campus features state of the art teaching and learning facilities, science laboratories, with a restaurant, cafe and performing arts venue. Higher National Certificate (Level 4) modules include: • The Contemporary Travel and Tourism Industry • Managing the Customer Experience • Professional Identity and Practice • The Travel and Tourism Business Toolkit • Leadership and Management for Service Industries • Work Experience • Visitor Attraction Management • Tour Operations Management • Global Tourism Destinations • Marketing Essentials for Travel and Tourism Assessment Assignments (including timed assessments – some under examination conditions), individual and group presentations, discussions, academic posters, displays, leaflets, recorded interviews/role plays, reflective journals and work-based projects. Qualification awarded: Pearson BTEC Level 4 Higher National Certificate in International Travel and Tourism Management Bursaries We want our courses to be accessible to students from any background, so we’ve put together a cash support package in the form of non-repayable bursaries to provide financial help where it’s really needed. Your career and progression From the Higher National Certificate (HNC) , students may progress to the Higher National Diploma (HND), from where they could progress to our BA (Hons) Business and Enterprise Management top-up degree or a similar programme at another institution (subject to entry requirements). Students may further develop their careers by entering employment in a wide range of roles in the global travel and tourism sector such as: operations manager, tourism development manager, visitor attractions manager, events manager, marketing and sales manager, flight /passenger operations manager, destination manager, tourism development officer or tourism business adviser.

Assessment method

Entry requirements

Qualification requirements

For entry to our university-level courses, we expect applicants to be working (or to demonstrate competency) at Level 2 or above in English Language/Literacy and Mathematics/Numeracy. Generally, we accept GCSE passes in English Language and Mathematics at Grades 9 – 4 (formerly Grades A* - C). Experienced mature applicants (those aged 21 or above at the start of the course) with relevant professional or industrial experience and/or qualifications are very welcome to apply.
