Fourth Monkey is proud to develop ‘artists’ as well as actors and to us, the training journey encompasses learning in not only how to act, but how to move, make work and collaborate with others. According to the industry itself, this is the modern ‘actor’, and we are passionate about supporting them to thrive. Students begin their training by exploring physical, vocal, and acting practices which connect body, breath and thought, helping them identify their own impulses and develop a personal process as an actor, mover, and maker with the combined objective of enabling them to access contemporary and classical text, craft embodied character and create original work of their own. Understanding and professional skillsets develop cumulatively and individually, with learning being integrated into scene and text-based work as students progress through the course, whilst the development of original devised work is celebrated throughout several creative projects. Students gain real-world industry knowledge alongside practical experience in technique classes, workshops and masterclasses in disciplines such as; Meisner, Uta Hagen, Laban, Lecoq, Screen Acting, Classical & Contemporary Scene Study and Stage Combat. Professional preparation closes out your time training with us, where you are given opportunity to showcase your skills as imaginative intuitive, actors, performers, and creative artists in public performances.
