Our degree is accredited by the Solicitors Regulatory Authority and Bar Council which means you will graduate having completed the academic stage of a Qualifying Law Degree (QLD) and be well on your way to becoming a solicitor or barrister. Gaining an LLB (Hons) in business law prepares you to work in the legal profession, business, legal aspects of finance, insurance, corporate negotiating and government services. There are plenty of opportunities to put your knowledge to the test as we regularly have chances to learn outside of the lecture theatre. You can visit magistrates’ courts to participate in bail applications, take trips to Parliament and law courts to experience first-hand how they operate on a day to day basis, and meet guest speakers from across the legal industry, including judges, magistrates and law firms, to learn more about how you can apply your knowledge in the workplace. What will I study? During your foundation year you will have the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of law and business. You’ll study topic areas like, employability and enterprise, self-development, responsibility, creativity, intro to law and inquiry-based learning to provide you with a solid basis for your study of business law. During your time studying business law you’ll cover diverse subject areas including, professional skills, business organisations and public law. Studying such varied topics will help you understand how law interacts with society and government, alongside developing key skills, such as understanding complex information, attention to detail and analytical thinking which will ensure you are well placed to enter the employment market. How I will be taught and assessed? This course is offered as a four-year programme, including an initial Foundation Year. The Foundation Year will allow you to develop your academic study skills and build confidence in your abilities, identifying your own strengths and development needs for progression onto an undergraduate degree. Throughout your time on this course you will carry out the following assessment activities:

  • written coursework
  • oral group and individual presentations
  • client advice written reports
  • written examinations.
