Course summary
The BA (Hons) Education and Professional Practice is unique in its approach to deliver a broad range of areas under one qualification and bring into contact teaching practitioners, early years educators and professionals from different sectors of education who will work together to interrogate key concepts of the education system within their own working context. The BA (Hons) Education and Professional Practice at New City College provides you with critical insights into key educational issues that will enable you to develop intellectual, practical and transferable skills related to current educational practices. The course provides a selective approach into the wider perspectives of education and work-based learning through modules focused on evidence-based pedagogy, educational research and reflective practice. The programme encourages healthy debate and discussion, building in depth and advanced knowledge and understanding across a variety of sectors, taking in key aspects of learning through educational theory, practice and policy, strategic methodology, and whole-organisational practices beyond the role of teaching. Over the duration of the course, you will have the opportunity to enhance your research skills and to make a contribution to scholarship in an area connected to your academic/ professional interests. You will demonstrate advanced knowledge and understanding of ethical considerations and the importance of integrity.
Modules
This is a full-time, 1-year qualification. All of the modules on this course are compulsory and worth either 20 or 40 credits each. Successful completion of all the modules will lead to the award of the Level 6 BA (hons) in Education and Professional Practice. Assessment method
All of our teaching staff are experienced professionals in the field of education. All students are allocated a personal tutor who will be your first point of communication should you have any queries or concerns. Regular 1:1 sessions will take place within the classroom where there will be the opportunity to discuss your course and progress. Assessment is carried out in a variety of ways: • Essay • Critical Reflection • Proposal and ethics application • Portfolio • Presentations • Dissertation
