If you’re looking to train while gaining invaluable experience as a student veterinary nurse in a placement, this three-year Foundation Degree is the ideal course for you. The three-year programme which articulates with the RCVS Day One Skills and Day One Competencies for veterinary nurses and has been a successful Higher Education provision at Plumpton College since 2009 incorporating theoretical modules, practical skills and a work placement. With our onsite clinical training suite, hands-on practical experience and up-to-date industry relevant modules you will gain all the skills necessary to be a successful veterinary nurse. 1 Purpose built Veterinary Nursing Clinical Training Suite 2 Experienced delivery of higher education Veterinary Nursing since 2009 3 Registered Veterinary Nurse status awarded on graduation (subject to accreditation) 4 Vocational, practical qualification suited for all ages wishing to work within the veterinary industry

Level 4 Year 1 modules: Veterinary Anatomy and physiology 30 credits Study and research skills 15 credits Animal health and husbandry 15 credits Clinical Nursing Skills 15 credits Principles of Veterinary Nursing Practice 15 credits Small Animal Nursing 15 credits Clinical Placement (336 hours) Year 2 - Sandwich Year: Career Development 15 credits Clinical Placement (1,200 hours) Year 3 Level 5: Independent Enquiry 15 credits Veterinary Diagnostics 30 credits Medical and Critical Care Nursing 30 credits Surgical and Theatre nursing 15 credits Professional Development and Business Skills 15 credits Veterinary Anaesthesia 15 credits Clinical Placement (448 hours)

Assessment method

Students are assessed through a combination of assessment methods depending on the modules chosen. Each course has formal assessments which count towards your grade. Some courses may also include 'practice' assignments, which help you monitor progress and do not count towards your final grade.
