Course summary
This degree builds on the industry-recognised HNC/D programmes. All first year entrants will start on the HNC and the entry requirements are therefore for this programme. Successful completion will allow you to progress to the second year of the HND. Following achievement of the HND, you can progress to the third year of the degree. Applicants already holding a relevant HNC qualification can apply for direct entry to the second year. When completing your application make sure you choose year two. Are you physically fit, with a head for business and a love of the great outdoors? Are you a good team player, whether you're halfway up a snowy hill or brainstorming back at the office? Forest managers are responsible for preserving and protecting forests and woodland, providing professional advice to the land-based forestry sector while ensuring timber is produced sustainably. Join us at the Scottish School of Forestry in Inverness, and gain an excellent grounding in this practical field, studying subjects such as forest science, establishment of woodlands, forest recreation, ecology, conservation, broadleaved woodlands, diversity, international trade, and much more. Enjoy fieldwork-based projects, plus a one-year industry placement during the HND year, with previous placements including Forestry Commission Scotland, Scottish Woodlands, BSW, Christie Elite, and James Jones. Explore opportunities to take part in study trips in Scotland, the rest of the UK, and Europe, and progress into a rewarding career, on a course with demonstrable success of our graduates gaining managerial posts in industry. Grow as a leader, and as a person, and help secure our forests for future generations to enjoy.
