Course summary

Do you have a favourite character from an animated film? Whether it’s Buzz Lightyear, Mirabel from Encanto, Jack Skellington or a Disney princess, have you ever wondered what turns them into such likeable (or loathe-able) characters? And who are the people creating such memorable and believable performances? Well, there is actually a job out there for these people: Character Animators, and when you study with us, you can become one, too. Our Animation course is an industry facing programme of study focused on the development of Character Animation skills and is supported by core competencies & collaborative skills - in-line with current Animation industry needs & expectations. You will build and develop a professional showreel and body of work through a ‘Personalised Curriculum’ – one in which you are a collaborator in a student-tailored programme of study that is mapped to your career aspirations & goals. Your first year of study is shared across all specialism skill-sets - focussing on the principles of Animation, Story Art, Asset creation, drawing and design for animation. As you progress through the second and third years of the course you will select the appropriate option modules allowing you to focus on specialist digital skills development – following your specialism pathway in advanced Animation methods for Character & Animated performance. Specialism routes include:

  • 3D Digital
  • 2D Digital
  • Computer Games Animation
  • Stop Motion
