Modules
Year 1: Students will build fundamental skills in fashion forecasting, buying from concept to consumer, brand buying, management and promotion. They will be taught digital communication skills to communicate brand identity and will be encouraged to think about their personal brand signature. We encourage students to start thinking about their contextual studies research throughout this year. Year 2: Students will gain a greater understanding of managing their personal brand and will work in creative collaboration with industry partners and students from other disciplines. Merchandising and visual merchandising are taught in the context of real industry practice. Every student will be given the opportunity to undertake a work placement and participate in manufacturing visits to echo the fashion buyer’s role. Year 3: We ask students to show their contextual studies research in a written or visual dissertation. They will further build on their skills in consumer research and trend prediction to make the case for a gap in the market to launch a new brand. They will also write a market research report, create a brand proposal, range plan, tech packs and produce a range of creative outcomes.
Assessment method
Students will be continually assessed through written and project work, and in the final year assessment is through dissertation and portfolio.
