At The University of Huddersfield, you can get involved with the need for greater sustainability, while indulging your passion for automotive and motorsport engineering. Our Automotive and Motorsport Engineering BEng(Hons) – which is accredited by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (IMechE) – will help you develop your skills. Our EnABLE modules give you the opportunity to work in a team to solve real engineering challenges, developing skills relevant to the industry. You will concentrate on management skills in your final year, which could help you go on to become a leader within automotive and motorsport engineering. Our Automotive and Motorsport Engineering BEng (Hons) is made up of a wealth of modules across each year of the course. These include: • Professional Development and Transferrable Skills • Engineering Science • Mechatronics

Assessment method

During your first and second year, you will be part of our programme: EnABLE (Engineering in an Activity Based Learning Environment). Throughout your studies, you will have the opportunity to get feedback through weekly SAIL (Score as I Learn) assignments, so you will feel confident in your studies and be able to access support when you need it. Assessment is made through assignments, exams and individual project work, with a focus on practical work. Your course is made up of modules, with each module worth a number of credits – these can come from a combination of core, compulsory and optional modules. Optional modules may not run if we do not have enough students interested, though. In year three, you will have the chance to take on an optional, complementing placement too.

Qualification requirements

Entry is also possible from the Engineering Foundation Year. To progress onto this course from the Foundation Year you must pass all modules and achieve an average mark of 40% or above. Progression to MEng from the BEng(Hons) course is possible if an average of above 60% is achieved and maintained on the first two years of the course. In addition to A2 Mathematics, A Levels must include one of the following: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Further and Additional Mathematics, Computer Science, Design and Technology: Product Design or Statistics. BTEC Level 3 Extended Diplomas Engineering - please note that we do not accept BTEC Computing and Operations as a qualification for entry to this course. Please note that we do not accept T Levels for entry to this course for 2023. Other suitable experience or qualifications will be considered. If your first language is not English, you will need to meet the minimum requirements of an English Language qualification. The minimum for IELTS is 6.0 overall with no element lower than 5.5, or equivalent will be considered acceptable.
