This is a joint honours course featuring Communication, Media and Culture and Sociology. You will be able to choose from a selection of modules from both of these courses to create a programme that is tailor made for you. Modules
In the Communications, Media and Culture element of the course, what you study includes: You can select from a wide range of modules around the three key themes: • communication: addresses interpersonal, persuasive, linguistic, corporate, and other dimensions of communication • media: engages questions of influence, consumption, journalism, web design, publishing and civic engagement, amongst others • culture: cultivates an understanding of key aspects of contemporary culture, including identity, youth, popular culture, and more. In the Sociology element of the course, what you study includes: Year 1 comprises two introductory modules which expose you to the fundamentals of sociological analysis. In Year 2 you decide how to build on this basis of sociological knowledge by choosing from a range of modules covering such topics as global social change, gender relations and work and employment. Year 3 includes honours modules and an optional dissertation module.
