Course summary

This course gives you a firm grounding in the institutions and practices of modern political systems. You will examine key ideas which have shaped modern politics; democracy, equality and liberty. You will learn about how globalisation continues to transform politics and how different political systems have evolved and adapted. Our programme offers you an extensive choice of modules and provides you with a range of transferable skills highly sort after by employers. At the end of year one you will have the opportunity to transfer onto the BA Politics and Parliamentary Studies programme; a four year course which incorporates a political placement in year three. Whilst still sharing certain elements of the BA Politics programme, the course will have greater emphasis on topics such as the Westminster system and British central government.
