Course summary

The HND Business is designed to provide a broad understanding of business organisations and the environment in which they operate. The programme has a strong managerial focus which helps successful candidates to progress to management roles. During the course you will develop your entrepreneurship, business skills and employability, relevant both for students interested in starting their own business or seeking a management career. Led by experienced tutors, the course will appeal to a wide range of candidates including school leavers, adults returning to education, those in employment who wish to enhance their career prospects and those who are, or wish to be, self-employed and require a broad grounding in business. Teaching methods include lectures, whole group information-giving sessions, workshops, tutorials, practical work, and blended e-learning and group critiques. Candidates who achieve the qualification may go on to study further academic and professional qualifications or embark on an administrative, managerial or commercial career.

Assessment method

Assessment for the course is designed, where possible, to simulate the variety of tasks that graduates from the programme may encounter in relevant employment. Where necessary other academic assessment devices, such as a formal examination are also used.

Additional fee information

Students have access to a wide range of resources including textbooks, publications, and computers in the College library and via online resources. In most cases they are more than sufficient to complete a course of study. Where there are additional costs, either obligatory or optional, these are detailed on the College website (on individual course pages). Of course students may choose to purchase their own additional personal resources/tools over and above those listed to support their studies at their own expense. All stationery and printing costs are at a student’s own expense. EU students who have settled or pre-settled status in the UK under the EU Settlement Scheme, may be eligible for student finance and be designated as a home student for fees purposes. Irish nationals are eligible for support under the Common Travel Area arrangement.
