Course summary

In your gateway year, you will study a range of modules designed to prepare you for studying medicine and surgery. In your first year, you will begin your training in clinical and communication skills, and clinical anatomy. You will spend Years 2 to 5 on placements in the acute hospitals and primary care settings of north and east Lancashire and south Cumbria, alongside your studies. You can choose to study at home or abroad during your Elective, or take a year out between Years 4 and 5 to study a medicine-related topic at BSc, MSc or MPhil level. You can also pursue your own areas of interest through Selectives in Advanced Medical Practice in Year 5.
