Course summary

This degree builds on the industry-recognised HNC. All first year entrants will start on the HNC and the entry requirements are therefore for this programme. Successful completion will allow you to progress onto the second year of the degree. Applicants already holding a relevant HNC qualification can apply for direct entry to the second year. When completing your application make sure you choose year two. It may be possible for applicants holding a relevant HND qualification to apply for direct entry to year three, again where this is the case please make sure you choose year three when completing your application. Entry requirements for advanced entry (i.e. into Year 2 and beyond)

Advanced entry to year two may be possible with a relevant 15 SQA credit HNC such as HNC Engineering Systems or HNC Mechanical Engineering with a pass in Engineering Mathematics 2. Advanced entry to year three may be possible with a relevant HND such as HND Engineering or HND Mechanical Engineering. Advanced entry to year four may be possible with the BEng Mechanical Engineering, or BEng Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, or other equivalent ordinary degree.

This is a Top-Up Degree whereby Year 1 of the course comprises an HNC and in some cases Year 2 an HND.
