Course summary

The Management School is amongst an elite group of business schools to hold the gold standard triple accreditation. The BA Business Economics programme gives you a firm foundation of knowledge in business economics, as well as a complementary training in a focused business pathway: Accounting and Finance or International Business. Covering the main principles of business and your chosen pathway you will also study the key areas of economics to understand and put into a business context its role within business, the UK and the wider global economy. By developing quantitative and analytical skills as well as a broader business knowledge our graduates are highly employable, finding careers in a variety of specialist and general business related roles in companies such as Bank of America, Deloitte, PepsiCo, PwC, Sky as well as smaller specialist firms. Links with Professional Bodies. With excellent teaching and quality content the programme is accredited by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) and the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA). Exemptions from various examination papers are available upon successful completion of certain modules. The third year of your programme is spent on placement. You will complete a year-long graduate-level placement, providing valuable work experience and an opportunity to further enhance the skills and attributes sought after by top employers. You can apply for UK-based placements with a large organisation or smaller company or even seek a placement overseas. You will be visited at least twice by University staff whilst on placement with support from the Placement Team throughout and complete related assessments in May.

Tuition fees for Home undergraduates If this is your first degree and you are a Home student applying for entry in 2023, you do not have to pay your fees upfront. Instead, you can take out a tuition fee loan which is paid straight to the University. This is available to most students, no matter what their household income. For students applying for 2023 entry Tuition fees for 2023 entry are £9,250. Exceptions to the £9,250 fee: Some of our programmes charge less than the full £9,250 fee: Foundation programmes: the fee for the foundation year of specified programmes at Carmel College and Birkenhead Sixth Form College is £5,140. Programmes with a year in industry or a year abroad: the fee for students spending a full year working in industry is £1,850. The fee for students spending a full year abroad is £1,385. Study costs including programme-specific additional costs We want to try and help you prepare for the day-to-day costs of studying. These might include day-to-day expenses like photocopying in the library, buying textbooks and specialist equipment, or costs associated with field classes or work placements.
