Course summary

Liverpool Centre for Advanced Policing, is a pioneering research centre for interdisciplinary law enforcement, and is licensed by the College of Policing to deliver degree programmes included in the Police Education Qualification Framework.

  • This is a two year accelerated degree in Professional Policing., which has been licensed by the College of Policing, the professional Statutory and Regulatory Body (PSRB) for policing.
  • There are now three entry routes into policing - this degree in Professional Policing is the requisite qualification for one of those routes.
  • The programme covers a wide-ranging areas of law, social science, policy and research skills essential to a policing career.
  • You will be taught in the Liverpool Centre for Advanced Policing Studies by lecturers with academic and professional backgrounds in policing.
  • The programme will start in September with semesters in the Autumn, Spring and Summer.

Assessment method

Academic assessment will be undertaken in accordance with University standards. Generally, this will be by way of written assignments, presentations and exams, both seen and unseen. The range or diversity of assessments are designed to cater for all student needs and allow students to develop and demonstrate a variety of skills much in demand by the police service. There is also a requirement for students to undertake self-reflection. Some assessment are based on reports of this reflective process. The assessment process will be supported by university staff and there is a recognition that some students will need additional support in line with any particular learning needs.
