Course summary

Top up your foundation degree to full Honours level on this one-year course. Our teaching combines academic rigour with fun, creative ways to encourage the under fives to take part in learning. The course is taught in the evenings, as you'll be on a paid or voluntary work throughout the programme. We'll assign you a personal supervisor who'll give you guidance in your studies. You can also drop in on your lecturers and tutors at any time with any questions or concerns. Year 1 Core modules International Perspectives in Early Childhood Education and Care Professional Practice – Working with 0-5s Creativity in Early Childhood Education and Care Leadership and Management in Early Childhood Education and Care Dissertation Please note, this course is taught on an evening as you will be on a paid or voluntary work placement throughout the programme. All modules are subject to availability and this list may change at any time.

Assessment method

You'll be assessed through a combination of written, practical and coursework assessments throughout your degree. Written assessment typically includes exams and multiple choice tests. Practical is an assessment of your skills and competencies. This could include presentations, school experience, work experience or laboratory work. Coursework typically includes essays, written assignments, dissertations, research projects or producing a portfolio of your work.

Entry requirements

Qualification requirements

Applicants need to be on placement with Level 5 sector-specific qualifications, such as an early years sector-endorsed foundation degree/HND, plus some work experience with 0-5 year olds or foundation degree and substantial experience of working with 0-5 year olds or vocational degree plus substantial experience of working with 0-5 year olds in a non-educational role.
