Course summary

If you are considering a career in business, this BSc is an excellent place to begin your journey. BSc Business Management will give you in-depth knowledge of organisations and the business environment, and an insight into the core areas of corporate life, including managing people, operations, logistics, marketing, finance, and the role of ethical management. You will explore how businesses can operate effectively in a multicultural environment, while learning to identify and solve business problems yourself, and communicate your ideas with impact. Over the course of your studies, you will gain the key attributes employers value, together with skills in research, project management and leadership. Taught on our south-west London campus, on this degree you will have access to many opportunities for work experience through our Careers Team, and access to face-to-face and 24/7 online careers support, whether you choose to live on campus or commute to us. This course offers all students the option of a one-year paid work placement, to boost your employability even further. If you choose this route, you will take the placement following year two of your course, and then return to complete your degree. A placement year is the perfect opportunity to gain valuable work experience, to build on the career skills we will teach you on this degree. The connections you make on the placement will improve your career prospects further, and equip you with the skills you need to secure graduate-level employment. When you compete the degree, you will also be eligible for a CMI L5 qualification in Management and Leadership, to give your CV an extra edge. Key features

Modules

Throughout your three year degree there is a focus on supporting you to develop and track your own increasing ability to add value to organisations. This is achieved through our Business Readiness module where, working with your Personal Tutor, you will gather evidence of your knowledge, attributes and skills. This will demonstrate to prospective employers how you can play a key role in whichever organisations you work for. In your first year, you will learn to recognise your personal strengths and weaknesses through a process of self-assessment and reflection, and understand your role in a team. You will practice these skills in a variety of team problem-based activities and scenarios. You will also establish an overview of business organisations in a global context and be introduced to key areas of business such as finance, marketing and data analysis. Your second year will continue to develop your business readiness, and you will gain experience of management, from managing people across different cultures, to supply chain and project management. In your third year, you will progress to understandings corporate strategy and business ethics. You will also be able to develop a deeper understanding of key areas such as finance and banking, or global marketing. There is a focus on specific subjects through options, such as developing an understanding of branding and Human Resource management on an international scale. You could also go deeper into the theory and practice of entrepreneurship.
