Course summary
The Foundation Degree explores the scientific basis of plant cultivation and related technologies, the horticultural business environment and provides an understanding of the significance of horticulture to society. Modern horticulture combines knowledge of plant and soil science, utilisation of innovative new technologies, business acumen and entrepreneurship. Horticulture offers a stimulating and rewarding career path for anyone with an interest in plants and the environment.
Modules
Year 1 - Plant Utilisation; Plant Knowledge; Essential Plant and Soil Science; Academic and Vocational Skills. Year 2 - Plant Production (double module); Landscape Management; Pests, Diseases and Weeds. Year 3 - Industry Project; Crop Physiology and Production; Environmental Plant Physiology; Research Methods.

The University Centre may consider applicants with work experience within a relevant industry in place of some qualifications. Applicants who believe they may be eligible for Accreditation of Prior Certificated and/or Experiential Learning (APCL/APEL) will be considered on an individual basis.
